Paula caught this great shot of an arriving flight right at sunset. This reminds me of another benefit of NOT waiting till the last minute for booking your cruise vacation.
As with last minute cruise rates, last minute air fares can be outrageous! Keep this in mind when planning…..the early air fares are almost always the best deals.
As far as arrival times, it is advisable to get to your port city by mid-morning. Most cruise lines begin transfers to the ship from the airport at 10 A.M. I find that spending the afternoon on the ship to be a relaxing time to get to know my way around. Lunch in the buffet is usually offered.
Return flights should be booked no earliar than noon to 2 P.M. Always check to see how far the pier is from the airport. For example, knowing that the transfer in Miami is a very short distance allows you to book an earlier return home flight.
