Disney Dream is a Real Dream
The Disney Dream is the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. It sets sail on its maiden voyage on January 26, 2011, and the wires are abuzz with rumors, facts, and figures about this gorgeous vessel. It’s 40% larger than its sister ships. Nearly 90% of the staterooms are outside rooms, and nearly 90% of those have private verandahs. The inside cabins have “virtual portholes” (Disney calls them magical portholes) with a view of the ocean and various Disney characters swimming past. And it boasts the first “watercoaster” (a combination roller coaster and water slide) at sea, the AquaDuck.
Of course it features a wide variety of restaurants and entertainment choices, adult-only facilities and expansive kids’ areas. But even the sophisticated adult-only restaurants have a Disney flair. And the cruise line’s signature Fireworks at Sea will be a standalone show set to music, with even more pyrotechnics than before.
Parents who sailed on a preview cruise noted that Disney is doing a better job of catering to ‘tweens and teens on this ship than on the Magic and the Wonder. And they raved about the pick-up service, where counselors pick up the children and escort them to the kids’ club before the end of dinner, leaving their parents free to finish their meal and enjoy a glass of wine in peace.
Overall, reviews of this Dream Ship are glowing. But what do you think? We’re looking for stories from those of you who sail on her. Send us a tweet, a picture, or a review, and we’ll post it on this site. (Email: cruisesnapshot (@) gmail [dot] com )
