Grand Turk Sunset

Grand Turk is the capital island of the Turks and Caicos, and boasts a 14 acre state-of-the-art luxury cruise ship center. While Hurricane Ike caused widespread devastation to the island the cruise ship center quickly rebounded, and offers a wide variety of stores and restaurants to please.

One of Grand Turk’s main attractions is diving at the nearby protected reef, which drops 8000 feet and is close enough to shore for beach dives. Check out the historical buildings in Cockburn Town, rumored to be the landfall island of Christopher Columbus when he discovered the New World in 1492. The lighthouse survived Ike’s fury, standing watch over the coastline, and is also worth a visit.
