Have you heard of The World? No, not that one. I’m talking about the ship.

The World is a cruise ship consisting of 165 apartments and studios, owned by its residents. But you can’t just call it a ship – it’s luxury afloat. This beautiful ship circumnavigates the world, staying from two to five days in each port. The owners decorate their individual apartments as they see fit, many of them living there year-round. There are restaurants, fitness facilities, movies, shopping, a spa – all the comforts of home, right at your fingertips.

On my last visit to Grand Turk, I woke one morning to find The World docked next to us. A red carpet was rolled down the stairs, and a canopy erected at the bottom to shade the residents from the Caribbean sun. Two bikes leaned against the gangway, and staff members waited to direct the residents to their destinations on the island. Some of my friends were lucky enough to be invited to tour The World and came home wide-eyed, filled with tales of opulence, luxury, and comfort.

So if you’re looking for a sumptuous place to call home that doesn’t stay in one place, consider The World. As long as you invite us to visit!
